Um verkið: Mér finnst gaman að leika mér með bókstafi og rúmfræðileg form. Þessi bók var gerð sérstaklega fyrir sýninguna Sigla Binda, sýningarverkefni listamanna frá Íslandi og Noregi. Þjóðirnar tvær eiga ýmislegt sameiginlegt og eitt af því er tungumálið. Á víkingaöld var fornnorræna, sem líkist íslensku, tungumál Noregs.

About the work: I like to play with letters and geometric forms. This book was specially made for the exhibition Sigla Binda, but Sigla Binda was an art project by artist from Iceland and Norway. Both nations have similarities and one of them is the language. During the Viking Age, Old Norse, resembling Icelandic, was the language of Norway.

About the work: A collection of round shaped images, photographs of the surface of the land, of the ground: the earth. 2020 – Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir
Um verkið: 2020, er á íslensku og fjallar um hið óraunverulega ástand sem ríkti í heiminum í byrjun faraldursins. Við lærðum ný orð eins og „fjarlægðarmörk“, „smitgát“ og kynntumst „tveggja metra reglu“. Handspritt og andlitsgrímur urðu staðalbúnaður alls fólks. Allt í einu var hættulegt að umgangast aðra og einmanaleiki hrjáði marga.
Efni og aðferð: Blönduð tækni: klippimyndir, samfellur, teikning. Stafrænt prent frá Pixel prentþjónustu.
About the work: The Artist Book 2020, which is in Icelandic and discusses the truly absurd situation which existed in the world at the beginning of the pandemic. New concepts were introduced such as “social distancing” and “self isolation” and became familiar with the “two meter rule”. Hand sanitizer and face masks became the norm for everyone. All of a sudden it became dangerous to socialize and many suffered lonliness.

About the work: This book “Pandemic” was created while the Corona virus was controlling our lives. It is made out of 19 acrylic paintings, in the original size of 50 x 80 cm.

Um verkið: Bókin Ös varð til á tímum samkomutakmarkana, nokkuð sem var áður óþekkt, og löngunin til að vera innan um margt fólk, sótti á.
Efni og aðferð: Tækni: blekteikningar á akryl-málaðan grunn, Munken pure pappír. Bókin er prentuð hjá Pixel í 100 eintökum, sem síðan eru númeruð.

About the work: “Ös” or “Throng” was created during the time of the Covid pandemic, when social distancing was obligatory, and it deals with the longing for crowds, to interact with others, even in crowded and cramped spaces.
Material and method
: Technique: Ink-drawings and acrylic painting, digital print on paper (Munken pure paper). All copies are numbered. The book is designed as a circle, even though it is in the shape of a square. That is to say, it doesn’t matter which way it is turned.

Efni og aðferð: Verkið er úr tjörupappa sem málaður er með hvítri olíumálningu. Liturinn gulnar með tímanum vegna tjörunnar í pappanum. Ein blaðsíðan er úr vatnslitamáluðum líndúk og á tjörupappírinn eru límd útklippt form af kirkjum. Hún er límd við tjörupappann með Satin finishing tape. Harmoniku brot, málað, brotið, klippt og límt.
Material and method : The work is made from tar paper (also used for roof construction). The paper is painted with white oil paint that the tar in the paper gradually colours. One page is a watercolored cotton cloth (attached with a Satin finishing tape) and cutouts of Icelandic churches are glued on some of the pages. A concertina, painted, folded, cut and glued.

About the work: On one hand the book is an attempt to create from discarded materials available in my studio and on the other hand it revolves around playing with pictorial compositions that combine colored organic forms with the black-and-white landscapes of old photographs.
Each book has a different arrangement of pages.
The book is made in 2 signed copies and two artist copies.
It consists of 14 pages and a cover.
Material and method
: The work is a collage, made from pages from a discarded photography book with the works of Eugène Cuvelier published by Cantz in 1996 from the library of the Iceland Academy of the Arts. The black and white pages, on which cut out colorful watercolor samples have been glued are scanned and laser printed on Maxi Satin 200 g paper and folade into consertina. The cover is 300 g Munken.

Um verkið: (Myndbreytt) BERG samanstendur af 14 vatnslitamyndum þar sem leikið er með liti og tóna, brotin í pappírnum stýra leiknum. Áferðin á pappírnum og snerting við yfirborð hans eru partur af upplifuninni af verkinu.
Efni og aðferð: Pappírinn er brotinn með falsbeini til að fá brot sem búa til för í pappírinn og mýkja hann upp svo viðkoman breytist. Brotin “teikna” munstur sem málað er með vatnslit. Stab binding. Brotið, vatnslitað, málað, teiknað og saumað. Bómullarþráður, Hannemulle grafík pappír og vatnslitur. Bókverkið er 14 bls málaðar á báðum hliðum.
About the work: (Metamorphic) ROCK consists of 14 watercolor paintings where the essence is playing with colors and tones and the folds in the paper control the game. The texture of the paper and contact with it´s surface are part of experiencing of the work.
Material and method
: The paper is folded with a bone folder to create folds that leave a groove in the paper that changes the surface of the paper. The folds also “draw” a pattern in the paper that serves as a drawing for the watercolor. Stab binding. Folded, watercolored, painted, drawn and sewn. Cotton thread, Hannemulle graphic paper and watercolor.

Pictures at an Exhibition II – Svanborg Matthíasdóttir
Um verkið: Uppistaða verksins eru málverk sem ég málaði á árunum 2011 til 2018 eftir slidesmyndum sem ég tók árið 1986 af samnemendum mínum við Jan van Eyck Akademie í Maastricht. Þar má sjá listamenn að skoða list á listasöfnum víðsvegar í Evrópu. Ljósmyndir af þessum verkum eru prentaðar í bókina en milli þeirra er gefið pláss fyrir nýjar tengingar milli tíma og staða sem teiknaðar eru með blýanti og síðan málaðar með olíulit.
Þannig verður til verk þar sem listamennirnir og málverkið eru uppistaðan í nýrri sýningu.
Efni og aðferð: Verkið er Laser prentað með Epson Monster Printer á Maxi Satin 200 g pappír, kápan er 300 g. Ljósmyndirnar sem prentaðar eru á pappírinn eru síðan tengdar saman með blýantsteikningu og loksins eru fletirnir sem þá myndast málaðir með olíulit.
Bókin er í harmoniku broti, kápan er límd á harmonikuna.
Pictures at an Exhibition II er til í 13 tölusettum og árituðum eintökum.
About the work: The basis of the work are paintings that I painted between 2011 and 2018 based on slides that I took in 1986 of my fellow students at the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht. There you can see artists viewing art in art Museums in Europe. Photographs of these works are printed in the book, but between them a space is left for new connections between places and times that are drawn in pencil and then painted in oil paint. Thus a work is created where the artists and the paintings have become an exhibition in a new context.
Material and method
: The work is Laser printed with an Epson Monster Printer on Maxi Satin 200 g paper, the cover is 300 g. The photographs printed on the paper are then connected together with a pencil drawing and finally the resulting surfaces are painted with oil paint. The book is an accordion, the cover is glued to it.
Edition: 13 numbered and signed copies.

Um verkið: Titillinn er Svanborg og Sigurborg í Silkiborg – og Inga og Helga og Gunnar. Ljósmyndabók um gönguferð. Eftir opnun á Bókverkasýningunni CONTEXT í Kulturspinderiet í Silkiborg DK þann 26. sept 2009 gengum við til Asger Jörn safnsins. Ég rak lestina, tók að mynda félaga mína á göngunni og heillaðist algerlega af formum fótleggja og fatnaðar, fjölbreyttum takti og hraða göngulags, spennandi litatónum, áferð og teikningu í fatnaði. Til varð bókverk um takt, hlutföll og lit. Og síðast en ekki síst um dans negatífra og pósitífra forma.
Efni og aðferð: Bleksprautu-prent. Prentun: Ágúst Loftsson 2010. Bókverkið er harmonika, brotin og límd. Blaðsíðurnar eru 20 og breiddin á þeim er á bilinu 10 cm til 26 cm.
Verkið er með áfastri kápu sem brotin er utan um verkið.
About the work: The title is: Svanborg and Sigurborg in Silkiborg – and Inga and Helga and Gunnar. A photo book about a walk. After the opening of the Book Exhibition CONTEXT in Kulturspinderiet in Silkiborg DK on September 26 2009 we walked to the Asger Jörn Museum. I was the last, started photographing my companions and got totally fascinated by the shapes of legs and clothing, the varied rhythm and speed of the walk, the repetition of the colours and the texture and drawing in the clothing. The result was a book about rhythm, proportions and color. And last but not least about the dance of negative and positive forms.
Material and method
: Inkjet print. Printing: Ágúst Loftsson 2010. The work is an accordion, folded and glued. The pages are 20 and their width ranges from 10 cm to 26 cm with an attached cover that folds around it.
