🇬🇧 Our website has been quiet for too long! But ARKIR are of course busy working on their art and taking part in exhibitions around the world. Below is an overview of the main news, but we will hopefully publish pictures of works and more detailed presentations later.

ÞRÍÆRINGURINN Í VILNÍUS | 10th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2024

🇮🇸 Anna Snædís Sigmarsdóttir tekur þátt í tíunda alþjóðlega bókverkaþríæringnum í Vilníus, „10th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2024“, en þema að þessu sinni er „að vera“. Nánar má lesa um þríæringinn hér: Artist‘s Book Museum. Dómnefnd velur innsend verk, en fyrir verkefninu fer Kestutis Vasiliunas og stofnun hans, Circle Bokartas. Sýningin fer víða um Litháen og Evrópu og Bandaríkin.

🇬🇧 Anna Snædís Sigmarsdóttir takes part in the “10th International Artist’s Book Triennial Vilnius 2024” but this time the theme is: “to be”. Organiser of the triennial is Circle “Bokartas”, Lithuania and the founder Kestutis Vasiliunas. An International jury selects the works and the exhibition will travel around the world as listed below.

BÓKUÐ Í HELSINKI | BOOKED 2024

🇮🇸 Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir sýnir verk í MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre sem heldur bókverkaviðburðinn BOOKED í þriðja sinn. Í ár verða sýnd verk 59 listamanna og listamannahópa frá Belgíu, Finnlandi, Þýskalandi, Íslandi, Litháen, Hollandi, Noregi, Svíþjóð og Bretlandi – alls 9 mismunandi löndum, en dómnefnd velur verkin á sýninguna úr miklum fjölda innsendra verka. 🇬🇧 Sigurborg Stefánsdóttir exhibits her work in MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre from 11 – 26 May 2024. This year’s event features works produced by 59 artists, artist groups and organisations from Belgium, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom — a total of 9 different countries. The invited participants — selected from the over 230 submissions made to our open call — were selected by a jury comprising artist and writer John Gayer, artist, publisher, editor, and curator Tommi Musturi, and curator, writer, and gallerist Hannele Nyman (Galleria Duetto). SKART Á HÖNNUNARSAFNI | JEWLERY 

🇮🇸 Ingiríður Óðinsdóttir sýnir skart í Hönnunarsafni Íslands frá 1. mars til 26. maí 2024, ásamt þeim Jónu Sigríði Jónsdóttur og Helgu Mogensen. Sýningin er haldin í samstarfi við Textílfélagið sem fagnar 50 ára afmæli 2024. „Verk Ingiríðar hafa tenginu við gönguferð um íslenska náttúru með óvæntum snúningi.“ Sjá nánar: SKART.

🇬🇧 Ingiríður Óðinsdóttir exhibits handmade jewlery along with Jóna Sigríður Jónsdóttir and Helga Mogensen in the Museum of Design and Applied Art. The exhibition is a collaboration with the Textile Association, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024. For further information see: JEWLERY.

“Humans have had the need to adorn themselves since ancient times. Jewellery fulfils this desire and at the same time reflects peoples’ tastes and, often, their social status. Jewellery can be laden with emotional value but can also serve as a platform for expressing views and values of the wearer. Ingiríður Óðinsdóttir and Jóna Sigríður Jónsdóttir share a background in textile design, while Helga Mogensen is primarily a jewellery designer. There is a sense of journey that connects their work. Helga works with cartography, Ingiríður’s work relates to walking through Icelandic nature with an unexpected twist and Jóna’s work evokes connections to tribal jewellery traditions.”

🇮🇸 Helga Pálína Brynjólfsdóttir opnar sýningu á v í APPART 323 í París þann 1. og 2 júní n.k. 🇬🇧 Helga Pálína Brynjólfsdóttir opens her exhibition Enterlacs (Interlacings) in APPART 323 in Paris 1 and 2 June. ARKIR Á RABF | ARKIR AT REYKJAVÍK ART BOOK FAIR

🇮🇸 ARKIR verða að sjálfsögðu á Bókverkamarkaðnum í Reykjavík sem opnar þriðja sinn, í Listasafni Reykjavíkur, Hafnarhúsi. Markaðurinn opnar fimmtudaginn, 23. maí milli 17-22 og verður opinn föstudag til sunnudag frá 12-17. Fylgist með viðburðinum á Facebook og Instagram og á heimasíðu RABF um tengdar sýningar.

🇬🇧 As previous years, ARKIR will be at Reykjavík Art Book Fair, held for the third time. The fair opens at the Reykjavik Art Museum, Hafnarhús Thursday May 23-26 and will be open from 17-22 on the opening night and Friday – Sunday 12-17.
