🇮🇸 ARKIR sinna fjölbreyttri listsköpun og sýna verk sín víða. Nú stendur yfir sýning Helgu Pálínu Brynjólfsdóttur í safna- og menningarfræðisetrinu Pálshúsi í Ólafsfirði. Sýningin nefnist Tengingar og stendur frá 31. júlí – 10. september 2021. Hér má lesa um sýninguna en í sýningarskrá segir m.a.:
„Textíllistakonan Helga Pálína Brynjólfsdóttir hefur nú um árabil gert tilraunir með að sauma í kletta, litglæða grábrún blæbrigði móbergsins en líka spýtur, nýjar og gamlar. Hún rillar og vefur, holar aftan og stingur framan til að laða fram skúlptúr, línur og horn.
Á sýningunni í Pálshúsi kallar Helga Pálína með þráðum sínum fram nýjar tengingar í spýtum og steinum, hyllir náttúruna og söguna, umbreytir henni og víkkar sýn með indíánskri litadýrð og fíngerðu bróderíi. Fortíðin og framtíðin, hið harða og hið mjúka, hið kvenlæga og hið karllæga, djúp jarðar og húrrandi nútímatækni stíga hér leikandi dans.“ – Texti: Jórunn Sigurðardóttir.
Frá árinu 1989 hefur Helga Pálína kennt textílþrykk í Hönnunar- og arkitektúrdeild Listaháskóla Íslands, við Textíldeild Myndlistaskólans í Reykjavík og í Textíldeild Myndlista-og handíðaskóla Íslands.

ARKIR member Helga Pálína Brynjólfsdóttir is currently showing her art at Pálshús Museum and Cultural Center in Ólafsfjörður. The exhibition is called Tengingar (Connections) and runs from 31 July – 10 September 2021.
From the exhibition catalog:
“Textile artist Helga Pálína Brynjólfsdóttir has for years been experimenting with sewing into rocks, the colorful gray-brown nuances of the tuff, but also pieces of wood, new and old. She carves and weaves, makes holes in back and front to call forth sculpture, lines and angles.
At the exhibition in Pálshús, Helga Pálína, evokes new connections in wood and stones with her threads, pays homage to nature and history, transforms it and broadens our vision with color splendor and delicate embroidery. The past and the future, the hard and the soft, the feminine and the masculine, the depth of the earth and the hurling of modern technology, all unite in a playful dance.” – Text by Jórunn Sigurðardóttir.
Since 1989, Helga Pálína has taught textile art and textile printing at the Design and Architecture Department of the Iceland University of the Arts, at the Textile Department of The Reykjavík School of Visual Arts and at the Textile Department of the Icelandic School of Arts and Crafts.
