Haustannir | Busy autumn

🇬🇧 Summer went by fast and ARKIR are now already busy preparing the next exhibitions and taking part in art events near and far. We will bring more news of our next book art exhibitions later. To bridge the gap between the posts from last spring and upcoming events, here are short notes on various events this summer and autumn.

ÖRNÁMSKEIÐ ARKA | ARKIR MINI-WORKSHOP

🇮🇸 ARKIR gera sér far um að miðla reynslu og þekkingu sín á milli á ýmsum sviðum lista. Á örnámskeiði á Korpúlfsstöðum í júní var viðfangsefnið vatnslitir og þar stjórnaði Svanborg Matthíasdóttir styrkri hendi, sagði frá vatnslitun almennt, kynnti mismunandi tegundir vatnslita, pappír, verkfæri og aðferðir. Arnþrúður Ösp bætti við kynningu á indigolitun og eðli þess merka litar, en á verkstæði Textílfélagsins á Korpúlfsstöðum mátti prófa virkt litabað. ARKIR notuðu þessa stund til að kanna ýmsa möguleika á því að lita pappír.

🇬🇧 As a group we aim to share experience and knowledge, not only concerning the book arts but also art in general. In June Svanborg gave us a lecture on watercolor, different types of colors, paper, methods and tools. Ösp added an introduction to indigo coloring, giving a demonstration using an active vat at Korpa, the studio of the Icelandic Textile Association at Korpúlfsstaðir. ARKIR enjoyed experimenting with colors and paper.
