🇬🇧 We are happy to announce that five members of ARKIR are taking the trip to Bergen Norway (which is no easy task in the times of a pandemic!) to take part in the opening of the exhibition SIGLA BINDA, a joint exhibition project by ARKIR and the Norwegian artist group Codex Polaris. The exhibition, that consists of works by ten artists, five Icelandic and five Norwegian, opens on Saturday 27, 2021 in gallery ENTRÉE in Bergen. The exhibition ends January 23, 2022.
“SIGLA – BINDA is a cross-border collaboration rooted in the love of artist’s books, with ambitions to create art that touches both the mind and the eye. … SAILING – BINDING. The terms binda and sigla – which we have chosen as the title for our project, are two of many common words between Norwegian and Icelandic. They have both concrete and abstract meanings related to our existence , to the sea that binds us together, to our artistic practice between tradition and innovation and to the historical ties between our nations.”
